Do you have unique knowledge on a genealogical topic? You could be a guest expert at #genchat!
To be clear, #genchat is not a paying engagement, but it’s a great way to make new contacts and market yourself. Just let us know what topic you’d like to cover, and we will work it into our schedule. (We usually schedule for the following year, but can make exceptions depending on the timeliness of the topic.) What we ask of our guest experts is:
If you’ve never been to Twitter/X or Mastodon chat before, we recommend attending a couple sessions to get a feel of the flow, following the hashtag, etc. (see the “How It Works” section of the website).
Still interested? Reach out to @geneapleau or @_genchat on Twitter/X, @genchat@lor.sh on Mastodon or email hostsofgenchat@gmail.com.

What we ask of our guest experts is:
- About a week prior to your scheduled #genchat, provide us 1 icebreaker/conversation starter question and 6 discussion questions about your topic (this will give us time to plug the questions into a graphic)
- Attend the scheduled #genchat to offer tips & tricks, engage chatters in discussion, answer their questions (@_genchat will be posting the questions during the chat, so you don’t need to worry about that!)
